ArtWalk

On a functional level, our ArtWalk is simply a passageway that connects the Parking Garage to the main hospital building. But in reality, it is so much more!

When you enter our ArtWalk, you are transported to a world of color, light, and texture as you make your way into the building. The 308-foot long ArtWalk showcases the talents of artists from the local community, ranging from well-known painters to youngsters from Children's Village daycare and area schools.

ArtWalk visitors will delight the variety of media displayed, including photography, oils, pastels, pencil drawings, watercolors, and the occasional quilt. The ArtWalk is well lit and has benches built in if you choose to rest a while.

The artwork rotates every three months. Each piece includes information about the artist who has loaned the pieces to our hospital for the three-month period. Our ArtWalk gives local artists an opportunity to share their creativity with the hundreds of people who will pass through every day. It also provides a pleasant atmosphere for those who stroll its length as they make their way to or from the building.

The ArtWalk is open daily from 5:30 am until 10 pm. If you wish to visit the ArtWalk, take the Parking Garage Elevator or the North Elevator nearest the Gift Shop to the ground level.

The Arboretum is beautifully landscaped throughout the year with a variety of flowering plants and shrubs. In addition, there are bronze sculptures, a pavilion overlooking the pond, a bird watching area, and much more.

In 1998, as we celebrated our 75th anniversary, administrators and board members envisioned the transformation of our 56-acre campus into an "Arboretum Woven into a Healing Environment." Landscape architects Carter van Dyke Associates designed an Arboretum plan with seven different gardens that patients, staff, and visitors may enjoy throughout the seasons.

Byers Reflection Garden

The reflection garden is located in front of the Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion. Attractive plantings and a seatwall curve around the “Dance of the Cranes” by sculptor John Raimondi. The fluid design of the sculpture suggests different symbols from different angles and was installed so that the first item visitors see when approaching the building is a heart.
